Andrew Chesworth

Andrew Chesworth is a character animator living in Burbank, CA. He co-wrote and co-directed the Oscar-nominated short film One Small Step at Taiko Studios with Bobby Pontillas. He was a CG animator for Disney on such films as Zootopia, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Moana, Wreck-It Ralph, Feast, Get a Horse!, Inner Workings, and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Prior to Disney, he was a director of both hand-drawn and CG commercials and short films at Make Visual in Minneapolis.

From 2016-2017, Andrew taught fourth-year Character Animation at CalArts.

Most recently, Andrew completed a contract as a hand-drawn animator on Netflix’s Klaus for Sergio Pablos Animation Studios during a six-month sabbatical from Taiko.

Currently, Andrew is employed full-time at Taiko Studios directing and producing animated shorts and developing feature film projects. He still freelances part-time as a hand-drawn animator and teaches at Animsquad.


In Between 2D and CG Animation
Andrew Chesworth will discuss his journey going from hand-drawn and CG animation in the commercial world, to being a CG animator at Disney during its 2010s revival, to directing non-photoreal CG at Taiko Studios and working with an international crew, and going back to hand-drawn on Klaus and bringing all of his previous experiences into that production. The talk will include behind-the-scenes process photos, artwork and videos.
