Massimo Fenati

Massimo will be leading a talk with Jo Allen on Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures; The Art of Imperfecting on Thursday 22nd. In this talk, Eagle Eye Drama and BBC discuss the challenges of creating 6 half-hour animated TV specials adapted from the work of Quentin Blake.

MASSIMO FENATI is a creative director, illustrator (with a dozen books under his belt) and director of animation.

From 2012 to 2019 he curated the Animation section of the TGLFF Film Festival (Turin, Italy), and was nominated for an RTS award for his work on a BBC4 documentary on Dada art.

He has written, produced and directed two Christmas specials for Channel 4, directing the likes of Helena Bonham Carter for Quentin Blake’s Clown (2020), and Hugh Dancy, David Harewood and Julie Walters (who was nominated for a BAFTA for her role) for Terry Pratchett’s The Abominable Snow Baby (2021).

Massimo’s latest production, as co-writer and series director, has recently launched on CBBC and BBC1: Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures, a 6×30’ anthology series with the voices of Simon Pegg, Nina Sosanya, Alison Steadman, and Adrian Lester.

He currently lives between London and Prague and is working on his first 52×11’ returnable series.
