Join Vici and Barney on their talk on from book to screen: An insight from the Producers at Magic Light Pictures on adapting books to screen and delivering to an audience. From their multi award winning, animated Christmas specials (including ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Stick Man’ and ‘Zog’) to their successful pre-school series, ‘Pip and Posy’, adapting stories for the screen is at the heart of what Magic Light does. But how do they approach it and how does that approach differ between formats?

After graduating from a BA(Hons) in Television Production at Bournemouth University in 2000 Vici began working for HIT Entertainment and building her career in children’s animation. She initially worked in development identifying new projects and talent to collaborate with before producing ‘Wobbly Land’ by Brown Bag films for Nick Jr and working across a re-development of “Angelina Ballerina.” and a collaboration with the English National Ballet.

In 2008 Vici joined Blue-Zoo Animation to produce the series “Kerwhizz” for Cbeebies, “Alphablocks”, “Get Squiggling” and idents for a range of clients. She was involved in winning a pitch to produce the high-end pre-school series “Tree-Fu Tom’ then setting up the production and overseeing the subsequent expansion of the company before leaving in 2011 to raise a family.

Vici freelanced for a range of production companies then in 2017 joined Magic Light Pictures to manage Animation Series Development with a vision to bring the same high quality, life enhancing storytelling of the Magic Light Specials to long form pre-school series.  Vici developed and produced the British Animation Award winning and BAFTA nominated series Pip and Posy. She is currently overseeing Pip and Posy S2, and working to bring several new Magic Light series to life.
